Sam Kiley, in this article from Sky News,  talks about Israel putting together a national disaster drill to help train their citizens to be ready for a severe earthquake. The simulation will be be bad enough to theoretically create 7,000 fatalities and  70,000 injured. What strikes me about this is that they are really getting people engaged in the event, including the kids in school. Now, granted, we have states bigger than their country, but it would be neat to see more large scale testing like this in the US. Preparedness is much more effective when communities, not just individuals, are ready for the bad parts of life to occur.
